Consider Twitter
Here is my challenge to all who read this: consider Twitter! Twitter, as defined by Wikipedia, is "an online social networking service and microblogging service that enables its users to send and read text-based posts of up to 140 characters, known as tweets." In other words, you write stuff and people read it.
What?
Twitter is similar to Facebook in that you follow particular individuals (often called tweeps) wether friends, companies, businesses, celebrities, etc. When they post (tweet) something in Twitter, you can read it. When you post something your followers (tweeps) can read it.
How?
So how do you tweet? There are two ways that I tweet. I use the Twitter App on my iPhone or iPad, or I go to twitter.com and enter my username and password and tweet from there.
Why?
So why should members of Metro East get a Twitter account and start tweeting? There are several reasons. Twitter is a great way to get information out to our members quickly. We can link blogs and important articles, we can send out vital announcements and updates, and we can encourage you throughout the week with brief quotes and Scripture passages.
Also, you can stay up with the news in your area of interest since virtually every news outlet, ministry, and business today has a Twitter account. As soon as something significant, or not so significant takes place, you can know about it.
In addition, since Metro East is a large church, you can quickly gain lots of followers and connect with people you haven't had a chance to meet yet.
How Do I Start?
Log on to Twitter.com.
Create a username. This will be displayed to your followers so don't be cheesy!
Create a password.
Find friends. Twitter will help you with this. Also, seeing whose following your friends is a good way to find people.
Download an App. If you have an iPhone here are a few options:
My favorite is the official Twitter App. Echofone is good. Hootsuite is also an option.
Follow me. My handle is @pastorbreaz
Follow Billy. His handle is @Billy_McDaniel
Follow James. His handle is @pastorjdallen
Find other friends and MEBC members.
Happy Tweeting!
Love ya,
Pastor Greg
